A Walk Through Blue Poppies

The letters of Eric Shipton to Margaret Bradshaw 1934-1974

Mountaineer, climber, explorer, Eric Shipton fits into the category of "legendary" in the true sense. A slightly erratic, imaginative approach was typical of him, always looking for the new, untrodden route. He was the man who didn't climb Everest, but who showed Edmund Hillary the way up the mountain. Hillary wrote of him that "he was a great explorer and a remarkably good friend."

Reviews

"The book comprises a correspondence between Shipton and a woman he met on a boat....does provide new information...giving interesting insights....these letters will certainly be useful for Shipton biographers."
Jim Perrin, Shipton & Tilman, 2014
